Facebook is spying on you...here's how to stop them!

Have you noticed that Facebook "Like" button on websites all over the web lately? Of course you have. You may even have noticed that some websites seem to know exactly who your friends are, displaying their profile icon to establish a social connection with you. While this remains an incredibly powerful marketing tool, it can also be used to track your every move! By that I mean Facebook knows every website that you have visited, regardless of whether or not you are logged in. The only caveat is that you can only be tracked when visiting a web page that is connected to Facebook by means of a "Like" button or other integration, such as a browser plug-in.

This should scare you. If it doesn't, let me continue. Imagine you're browsing the web alone, and you decide to visit an objectionable website. Later, your spouse comes along and visits one of their favorite websites. Using the tracking features Facebook has in place, an ad for that very same objectionable website appears on the screen. Doesn't bother you enough? Well how about this...Facebook stores a list of the sites you visited in order to sell your information to advertisers. But this information can potentially be accessed by parties of less honorable intent.
To be fair, Facebook is not the only offender in the online tracking game. Sites like Google, Yahoo and Twitter also do some pretty heavy tracking of their own. For instance, when advertisers pay for you to click on a link to their website, they will also pay to show that same ad to you while visiting other unrelated websites. This is called re-marketing and it happens to you every day. However, due to the amount of personal data shared, and the high percentage of web users with a Facebook account, Facebook poses an especially high risk.
So how do you protect yourself? There are several ways, but here I will share my preferred method. Using a web browser plug-in called "Disconnect," we can block tracking cookies used by Facebook, Google, Yahoo, Twitter and Digg. They will be blocked only when you are not visiting the site directly. In other words, you will still be able to use Facebook and Twitter normally when you are visiting facebook.com and twitter.com. But while visiting other sites which utilize these tracking cookies they will be rendered useless.

First, download and install Mozilla Firefox. Once installed, open the following link in Firefox:

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/disconnect/

Firefox will ask if you want to install the add-on. Choose "yes" and let it install. You will be asked to restart your browser to complete installation. Click "yes" and wait for Firefox to restart. You should now see a button with a blue "d" to the right of your address bar in Firefox. Done.

You can now browse the web securely, knowing your every move is no longer being tracked.

Outdoor Surveillance Motion Floodlight Camera

One of our most common customer requests has always been for outdoor surveillance solutions. Today we're going to show you a great new product that covers nearly any outdoor video security application.

Let's go over the features. First, we have an awesome 300W halogen light tube which is powerful enough to illuminate an entire driveway. Motion activated light and high resolution camera provide a perfect illuminated image with gorgeous 640x480 (VGA) 10fps recording. Stores video on a standard SD memory card which you can remove for playback on your computer. Time and date stamp for indisputable evidence. Two pre-selected audible alert settings and, my favorite, two user recordable audible alerts!

The motion triggered light will activate with any movement within its 180-degree sensor zone. Motion can be detected up to 30 feet from the Floodlight DVR Camera. There are two pre-programmed audio alerts. One is a doorbell and the other is a dog barking to ward off intruders. Motion activation sensitivity settings let you determine just how much motion will trigger recording. There are even selectable modes for home, commercial, and extended absence applications.

This all-in-one unit is perfect for outdoor surveillance. Watch your car in the driveway, ward off would-be thieves, stop graffiti and other illegal activities, the possibilities are endless. The hardest part when setting up a network accessible DVR, such as this one, is configuring port forwarding on your router. If you try to skip this step you won't be able to access your DVR remotely! That's where our new port forwarding tool comes in. DynaSpy Port Forwarding v2.4.3 is the best tool available for easily identifying your router, logging in, and configuring port forwarding.

We teamed up with PcWinTech.com to provide you with the ultimate port forwarding application that takes all the hard work out of setting up your router. First, let me show you what the program looks like:

DynaSpy Port Forwarding will auto-detect most routers in use today. It will even load the default username and password in case you haven't changed it (if you haven't, you should!) Now all you have to do is add a new App by right-clicking the white box and selecting "Add New" from the list. Choose "Custom," create a name for the app - I used "DVR" - and select the IP and port of the DVR (provided during DVR setup)

We now bring you to the next generation Micro PI CamStick PRO. High-end features like the Vox recording mode let you record only when ambient sound levels reach 60 decibels or greater. It has a lower light requirement than its predecessor allowing you to capture video under conditions where the original CamStick would provide nothing more than a blank screen.

With its excellent 640 x 480 (VGA) high resolution and full 30 FPS recording the CamStick PRO is poised to blow the original model out of the water. We'll let you be the judge with the following videos.

Another benefit to the CamStick PRO is its recording format. The CamStick PRO records in standard AVI format which will play on nearly any computer. The original CamStick used 3GP compression which is the same format used when you record video on your cell phone. The problem is that most computers do not have a 3GP decoder already installed.

The Micro PI CamStick PRO comes with mounting options for many applications including a removable belt/pocket clip, neck strap, and dashboard mount. The dashboard mount is a nice feature which will let you record either inside the car or out of the car window.
